If you are interested in knowing the characteristics of jade, we suggest you read this very interesting article.
Jade is a hard stone of very ancient origins and full of charm. It was already used 7000 years ago, but not only as a jewel. In fact, given its characteristic of strong hardness, traces have been found dating back to the pre-Columbian era, as a weapon or knife.
Everyone sees jade as green and links it to Imperial China. In reality this is a correct but partial information.
What is the color of jade?
Jade can be found in various colors:
The most precious stone is the one that comes from Burma and has an intense and bright green color. It is also very important that it does not have many inclusions, such as black or white markings.
Do you want to buy some jade?
If you are interested in buying jade it is important to know how to recognize the real one from the fake one and whether it is treated or not.
Only jadeite and nephrite are considered true jades. And specifically, the most expensive and appreciated jadeites are the Burmese ones. Once you have found real jade it is important to understand which category it belongs to. There are in fact three types of jade:
- TYPE A: natural, not artificially treated. This type of jade is only washed with plum juices and polished with beeswax. They are truly original stones. Jade of this type of intense color and without impurities has crazy prices, and is difficult to find on the Italian market
- TYPE B: 100% pure jade with entirely natural color. The only treatment it undergoes is chemical and it is bleaching to remove impurities. This type of jade is the one found on the Italian market. It is of excellent quality and is the one that is usually mounted in jewelry.
- TYPE C: it is pure jade, but not only chemically bleached. It is also artificially colored to change its appearance. Therefore it is not of good quality. Also because the color will tend to fade over time due to exposure to strong lights, the heat emitted by the body and contact with detergents and perfumes.
