Do you know morganite?
This precious stone, with the bizarre name morganite, was originally also called pink beryl. Morgarite belongs to the beryl family. The emerald and the aquamarine also belong to the same family: the most precious.
It can be considered a fairly recent stone, its discovery dates back to about a century ago and the main deposits are located in Madagascar, Brazil and Afghanistan.
The name morganite was given by the mineral researcher George Fredrick who gave it this name in honor of his benefactor, the New York banker and philanthropist John Pierpont Morgan.
Its pink color, very delicate, is given by the traces of manganese, which depending on the quantity, make it take on a color:
- more intense pink
- magnolia
- salmon
- peach.
Precisely for this very particular color it is very appreciated by women and by fans of colored gems, if mounted on gold jewelry.
It is a pure stone, very clear and free of visible inclusions.
Is it a delicate or resistant stone?
Morganite can be considered a very resistant stone, it is not worked with particular cuts but with its classic cuts. It develops through a hexagonal crystalline system, taking on the typical color thanks to the presence of lithium and manganese.
What is the significance of morganite?
Morganite is the stone of the heart, for those who do not give up against difficulties, to achieve their dreams.
