Have you ever heard of tanzanite?
Tanzanite is a relatively recent stone. It is called the gem of the twentieth century, because it was only discovered in 1967.
It is a very rare stone, much more than diamonds, because there is only one deposit in the world, located on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania. This field has an area of only 20 square km. It is also a gem, like a diamond, which takes many years to form. The geological process that allowed its formation lasted 582 million years.
But what color is tanzanite?
It is a blue gem, with a color ranging from:
- blue-lilac
- blue sapphire
- intense violet-blue.
The most valuable gems are those with an intense and brilliant blue color, without inclusions.
Tanzanite is a fairly delicate gem, which must be worn with care, because if it falls or hits it could chip. In fact, on the Mohs scale it has a hardness index of 6.5 -7, compared to the diamond which instead has 10.
To maintain its luminosity and brilliance, it is possible to wash the tanzanite with water and neutral soap, gently rubbing it with a toothbrush.
What significance does tanzanite have?
It can be considered a very vital stone, capable of awakening the spiritual side of each of us and giving energy.
It is precisely the symbol of the life cycle.
It takes away the stress, helps to relax your nerves and helps you to join your family.
